The studio album of the FOURTH FLOOR.
Founded in 2006, the group Fourth Floor is based on a non-standard set of instruments, whose core is a synthesis of the sound of vibraphone and marimba. These instruments are played by Dominik Rosłon and Jan Freicher, who have been collaborating for many years. Their telepathic understanding on stage makes the intermingling sounds of the two instruments seem a musical utterance of one soloist. The rhythm section of the group consists of bass guitarist Marcin Grabowski and drummer Radek Szarek.
An album contains Jan Freicher’s compositions for vibraphone and marimba, including Dove’s Delight
– a composition awarded in the PAS composers’ competition, published by Honey Rock, USA
recorded and mixed by Toni Hinterolzinger
HFM Studio, Germany
2010
“Frontmen on vibes and marimba (the Fourth Floor quartet) is a rarity on the contemporary jazz scene and this fact alone caused the public’s interest. When we add to it brilliant compositions, high level of technique and improvisatory skill of Jan Freicher and Dominik Rosłon, we have the answer to the question about the jury’s verdict. [Grand Prix – 43. Jazz on the Odra Festival]”
